"Within the Facade - What do you See?" is a mandala comprised of patterns, symbols, and imagery layered on top of each other that borrows from folk art, indigenous art, victorian patterns, and my own life experiences. Mandalas are images made from a repeated concentric designs that radiate outward from a middle design. They are sometimes used in meditation. Creating this piece was certainly a sort of meditation for me. I enjoy repetition and pattern put together in an imperfect way. This piece relates to me through personal struggles, meditation, and control.
This piece was created with a mixture of paper, metallic inks, regular ink, and yarn on wood. It measures approx. 12" x 12" x 1.25". The edges are finished and the piece is ready to hang on installed hardware.
